We test all our recipes to ensure that they are #AmosApproved before sharing them here. Whether your pet is big and tall, skinny or small, we've got the recipe for you.
Cookie Press Dog Treat: Bacon & Cheese
If you own a cookie press, this is the recipe for you! Make dozens of dog biscuits using whichever cute disc shape you prefer. This is a great recipe for kiddos to help with. They’ll love using the cookie press!
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup old fashioned oats
1 egg
1 cup coconut oil, melted
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup finely shredded cheese (I use a Microplane grater)
4 pieces extra crispy bacon
INSTRUCTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
Grind oatmeal in a high-speed blender or food processor to make a crumbly “flour”. Set aside.
Chop the crispy bacon into very small crumbles, keeping in mind that the pieces need to pass through the cookie press disc. (Alternately, you can put the crispy bacon into a ziplock bag and crush it up with a rolling pin.)
In a large mixing bowl, whisk the egg.
To the bowl, add the melted coconut oil, whole wheat flour, oatmeal “flour”, cheese, and finely crumbled bacon. Stir until combined.
Fill the barrel of the cookie press with the mixture, and press cookies 1 inch apart onto the lined baking sheet in your desired shape. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden and crunchy. Store in an airtight container for 1-2 weeks.
As always, these treats are #AmosApproved!
Notes: You can use any type of cheese that your dog likes here, but I typically use a hard cheese because it’s easy to grate really finely. Often I’ll use remnants, like the cheese rind, that I would otherwise throw out.
